This issue’s mini-series is on atherectomy – rotational and orbital – with articles on the Euro4C registry studying the modification of calcified plaques; a comparison of the outcome of OCT and intravascular ultrasound guidance; a look at the FDA’s post-marketing surveillance data from the MAUDE database; and two reports on calcified lesions. In-stent restenosis and stent thrombosis are examined in an article on the AGENT-ISR study; the use of OCT to investigate morphological characteristics associated with underexpansion of newly implanted stents; and an investigation of the incidence and predictors of adverse cardiac events. In valvular disease and heart failure, a study using FFR provides new evidence on the diagnostic performance of quantitative flow ratio; and another on multivessel intracoronary infusion of allogeneic cardiosphere-derived cells in patients with advanced heart failure and reduced ejection fraction.
