This issue’s mini focus is on left main revascularisation including articles on dual antiplatelet therapy duration comparing newer generation bioabsorbable- with durable-polymer drug-eluting stents from the IDEAL-LM trial and, from the SYNTAXES study, a look at the preprocedural importance of certain biological markers such as C-reactive protein on long-term mortality after revascularisation. The design of the ORBITA-2 trial looking at outcomes after PCI for treating stable angina without the use of antianginal medications; from the FAST II study, assessing the accuracy of a new less invasive measuring vessel fractional flow reserve using three-dimensional quantitative coronary angiography; angiographic markers for predicting the need for rotational atherectomy in the interventional treatment of complex calcified artery disease. In valvular disease and heart failure: comparing outcome using a percutaneous or surgical approach to perform TAVI; early outcomes of transcatheter mitral valve replacement using the novel Tendyne. In hypertension and stroke, transcatheter atrial septal defects and patent foramen ovale closure using the new bioresorbable Carag transcatheter occluder and more...
