The Official Journal of EuroPCR and the European Association of Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (EAPCI)

October 2021

Volume 17 Number 8

A new EuroIntervention State-of-the-Art on diabetes, glucose management in patients with chronic and acute coronary syndromes who undergo percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI). A mini focus on chronic total occlusions (CTOs) with articles looking at the impact of occlusion patterns on outcomes of in-stent CTOs, effectiveness of post-stent intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) evaluation after CTO-PCI, IVUS-defined antegrade and retrograde wire position on procedural outcomes in CTO-PCI using the retrograde approach, the ISAR-CTO registry comparing outcomes following CTO recanalisation using either contemporary dissection and re-entry techniques (DART) or intraplaque techniques. In coronary interventions: understanding early spontaneous reperfusion in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction; continuous thermodilution in the assessment of quantitative flow and resistance reserve measurements. In valvular disease: balloon aortic valvuloplasty in patients with severe aortic stenosis who need urgent non-cardiac surgery; in peripheral endovascular therapy: looking at whether IVUS or optical frequency domain imaging can distinguish between medial and intimal calcification; and more...
