EAPCI Focus on EAPCI Website/Communication Committee
Pascal Meier, Chairman of the Website & Communication Committee
What is the role of the Website & Communication Committee?
The role of the Website & Communication Committee is to generally improve the communication and transfer of information of the EAPCI. I feel that this role has become increasingly important in a digital world, with its opportunities for information transfer and interaction.
What are the Committee’s plans/objectives for the coming years?
Our group, which includes Co-Chair Eugenio Stabile (Italy) and Ronnie Lassiaille, Digital Publishing Manager at Europa, wants to improve communication within the EAPCI but, importantly, we don’t want to limit communication to EAPCI members. We also want to go beyond and reach general cardiologists, GPs with a special interest in cardiology, allied health professionals such as nurses and technicians, and, last but not least, patients. We feel it is important to improve the interaction with these groups.
Furthermore, we don’t want to simply transfer information to the EAPCI members and the above-mentioned groups; we also want to provide the opportunity to discuss content, for example, novel EAPCI recommendations, congress news and EAPCI initiatives such as “Stent for Life”. In order to achieve this, we will use different information channels. One major priority is to increase the EAPCI’s presence on social media. We already have LinkedIn groups but we want to extend this to other social media platforms.
Our aim is to take advantage of these novel information technologies. We have an increasing range of tools to hand which can help information transfer and facilitate interaction. While this is a great opportunity, at the same time it is a big challenge. We are increasingly overloaded with information and we aim to ensure that the important EAPCI-related information gets noticed.
