PCR and Singapore LIVE join forces: 1+1>3

Jean Marco1*, MD, FESC, FACC; Tian-Hai Koh2, MBBS, MMED

With the firm intention of sharing experience, knowledge and cultures, PCR and Singapore Live have joined forces to create AsiaPCR/SingLIVE.

AsiaPCR/SingLIVE aims at contributing to the advancement of education and information on existing and new technologies in the fields of cardiovascular interventions in the Asian Pacific region.

Our long-term goal is to build a platform of expression widely open to the National, International Societies and Health Care professionals of the Asian Pacific region who wish to share their experience, knowledge and expertise whilst respecting the regulations, local constraints, and cultural differences.

The 2010 programme was built by the combined efforts of the Singapore Live and EuroPCR teams, and highlights some of the regional hot topics, along with tried and tested elements from EuroPCR.

Live demonstrations from the National Heart Centre Singapore and the Thoraxcentre Rotterdam and other regional invited centres, debates between key opinion leaders of different regions on “hot topics” and practical educative sessions are the main core of the programme, focusing on patients with coronary artery disease, aortic stenosis, structural heart disease and peripheral vascular disease.

Some sessions will focus on the latest innovations dedicated to the expression of potential vision on the future practice, around presentation ofnew technologies and techniques during main sessions and Tech News & Trends sessions.

AsiaPCR/SingLIVE will provide the opportunity to discuss the state-of-the-practice in the various regions, identifying possible gaps between daily practice and guidelines, and to debate possible key actions in the fields of education, training and research by using both individual and collective intelligence.

The extremely popular “Learning the techniques” sessions, built around live demonstration, will be implemented at AsiaPCR/SingLIVE. These sessions demonstrate how a step-by-step reasoning – starting with the full appraisal of patient data, synthesis of knowledge, as well as experience – allows to safely resolve problems encountered in daily practice.

How to do Peripheral Endovascular Interventions sessions are built along the same lines: a clearly defined decision-making process, applicable for all endovascular peripheral interventions.

The “Meet the experts” sessions are highly interactive and allow exchange between key opinion leaders and small groups of attendees, based on cases encountered in daily practice with the aim of improving skills.

Complication sessions will provide you with the best educative experience in order to learn tips and tricks on how to avoid and resolve difficult situations.

Practical educative “Non Invasive Imaging Techniques” sessions will complete this extensive programme.

AsiaPCR/SingLIVE is based on the concept – “Together we achieve more”.

It implies that by teaching and learning, sharing with an open mind and mutual respect of our differences, through collaboration and synergistic relationships we will achieve our mutual mission – to improve patient care and reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease.

We wish to trigger similar synergies at all levels of our constituencies, but first and foremost, at the patients’ bedside.

A long-term vision based on a synergistic relationship.
