Vascular access closure after TAVI

ACCESS-TAVI
Objective
to compare a vascular closure device strategy (VCD) using a combined suture/plug-based VCD (ProGlides/ProStyle and Angio-Seal) with a suturebased VCD (ProGlides/ProStyle) to achieve haemostasis after transfemoral TAVR
Study
investigator-initiated, prospective randomised trial
Population
post transfemoral TAVI patients
Endpoints
composite of major/minor access site-related vascular complications (VARC-3 criteria) during hospitalisation
Conclusion
a combined suture/plug-based VCD strategy was superior to suturebased VCD with regard to access-site vascular complications after femoral TAVI
