3. Stents for left main stem and bifurcation lesions

Two stent vs provisional stenting for complex bifurcation lesions

DEFINITION II: final 3 years
Objective
to report the 3-year clinical outcomes of treatment of complex bifurcation lesions using a two-stents approach as compared to provisional stenting
Study
multicentre, randomised trial
Population
patients undergoing PCI of bifurcation lesion meeting DEFINITION criteria
Endpoints
target lesion failure (TLF): composite of cardiac death, MI and clinically driven revascularisation at 3 years
Conclusion
a two-stent approach to treat complex bifurcation lesions is associated with a lasting better clinical outcome at 3 years compared to a provisional approach
