TAVI or SAVR for aortic stenosis with small aortic annulus

VIVA
Objective
to compare the haemodynamic outcomes of TAVI compared to SAVR for treatment of aortic stenosis with small aortic-annulus (SAA)
Study
investigator-initiated prospective randomised trial
Population
patients with severe aortic stenosis and SAA (minimal diameter ≤ 21.5mm by CT)
Endpoints
impaired valve haemodynamic as severe prosthesis mismatch or moderate-severe aortic regurgitation at 60 days
Conclusion
amongst patients with severe aortic stenosis with small aortic annulus there was not statistically difference between treatment with TAVI or SAVR.Caution: small number of studied patients
