3. Stents for left main stem and bifurcation lesions

Stepwise provisional vs systematic dual stenting of left main bifurcation disease

EBC MAIN
Objective
to compare the 1-year clinical outcomes in patients with distal bifurcation left main lesions undergoing either stepwise layered provisional stenting or systematic dual stenting
Study
investigator initiated, prospective, multicentre randomised trial
Population
patients with true unprotected bifurcation left main disease
Endpoints
composite of death, MI and target lesion revascularisation at 12 months
Conclusion
there was no statistically difference of MACE at 12 months using a stepwise layered provisional approach compared to a planned dual stenting approach for treatment of distal bifurcation left main lesions
