Percutaneous coronary intervention for stable angina

ORBITA 2
Objective
to investigate whether PCI relieves angina more than a placebo procedure in patients not receiving anti-anginal medication
Study
Population
patients with stable angina not on anti-anginal medication and objective evidence of ischaemia
Endpoints
angina symptom score as number of angina episodes per given day, number of anti-anginal medications on a given day and clinical adverse events (scores range from 0 to 79)
Conclusion
PCI resulted in a lower angina symptom score compared to a placebo procedure in patients with stable angina
