5. Drug-coated balloons

Paclitaxel-coated balloon vs uncoated balloon for Instent-Restenosis

AGENT-IDE
Objective
to evaluate whether paclitaxel-coated balloon is superior to uncoated balloon for treatment of in-stent restenosis
Study
single-blind multicentre randomised trial
Population
patients with in-stent restenosis with vessel diameter 2.0mm-4.0mm and lesion length <26mm
Endpoints
1-year target-lesion failure as ischaemia driven target vessel revascularisation, MI or cardiac death
Conclusion
among patients undergoing coronary angioplasty for in-stent restenosis paclitaxel coated balloons were superior to uncoated balloons in terms of 1-year MACE.
