OCT versus IVUS and angiography to guide stent implantation: ILUMIEN III

OPTIMIZE PCI
Objective
to report the 1-year clinical outcomes of OCT-guided, IVUS guided and angiography guided stent implantation
Study
multicentre randomised trial
Population
patients with non-complex lesions undergoing PCI
Endpoints
target lesion failure (TLF) and MACE at 12 months
Conclusion
OCT guided PCI was not statistically different in terms of 12-month clinical outcomes compared with IVUS – or angiography guided PCI. It is of note that the study was underpowered.
