9. Imaging-guided PCI

IVUS vs Angiography guided PCI in ACS

IVUS-ACS
Objective
To investigate whether the use of IVUS guidance, as compared with angiography guidance, improves the outcomes of PCI with contemporary DES in patients presenting with an ACS
Study
Prospective, multicentre randomised trial
Population
Patients with ACS undergoing PCI
Endpoints
Target vessel failure, a composite of cardiac death, target vessel myocardial infarction, or clinically driven target vessel revascularisation at 1 year after randomisation
Conclusion
In patients with an ACS, IVUS-guided stenting resulted in a lower 1-year rate of the composite outcome of cardiac death, target vessel myocardial infarction, or revascularisation compared with angiography guidance alone.
