7. Myocardial revascularisation strategy

Everolimus stents or surgery for MV disease

BEST extended
Objective
to evaluate the long-term outcomes of PCI with everolimus eluting stents compared to bypass surgery in patients with multi-vessel disease
Study
prospective open-label, multicentre, randomised study
Population
patients with de novo MV-disease of 2 or more major epicardial vessels and suitable for either PCI or CABG
Endpoints
MACE: any death, MI or target vessel revascularisation. Extended follow up: minimum 8 years (maximum 13.7 years)
Conclusion
there was no significant difference between PCI and CABG in the incidence of MACE during extended follow-up for the treatment of patients with multivessel coronary artery disease
