Drug-coated balloons vs DES for small coronary arteries

BASKET-SMALL 2 3 years
Objective
to examine the 3-year clinical outcomes comparing drug-coated balloons (DCB) with drug-eluting stents (DES) for treatment of stenosis in small coronary arteries
Study
multicentre, randomised non-inferiority trial
Population
all-comers with disease in small coronary arteries (<3 mm)
Endpoints
composite of all-cause death, non-fatal MI and target vessel revascularisation at 3 years (predefined analysis)
Conclusion
the 3-year efficacy and safety rate of drug-coated balloons for the treatment of CAD in small coronary arteries is non-inferior compared to drug-eluting stents
