SOLVE-TAVI (SEDATION)
Objective
to report the clinical outcomes of local anaesthesia and conscious sedation versus general anaesthesia in patients undergoing TAVI
Study
open-label, multicentre, randomised study powered for equivalence
Population
patients undergoing TAVI at intermediate to high surgical risk
Endpoints
composite of all-cause death, stroke, MI, infection requiring antibiotic treatment and acute kidney injury at 30 days
Conclusion
among patients undergoing TAVI conscious sedation compared to general anaesthesia resulted in similar adverse event rates at 30 days
